BMDP (hydrochloride) or 3, 4-methylenedioxy-N-benzyicathinone is supplied as a crystalline solid. A stock solution may be made by dissolving the BMDP in the solvent of choice. BMDP (hydrochloride) is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, OMSO and dimethylformamide, which should be purged with an inert gas. The solubility of BMDP in ethanol is approximately 3 mg/ml and approximately 5 mg/ml in OM SO and DMF. BMDP (hydrochloride) is sparingly soluble in aqueous buffers.
BMDP (hydrochloride) should first be dissolved in OMF and then diluted with the aqueous buffer of choice. BMDP has a solubility of approximately 0.13 mg/ml in a 1:7 solution of OMF: PBS (pH 7.2) using this method. We do not recommend storing the aqueous solution for more than one day.
Substituted cathinones are psychoactive compounds sold in packets labeled as bath salts or plant food. BMDP (hydrochloride) is a substituted cathinone that is structurally analogous to methylone, a narcotic that is regulated in the United States. This compound has a phenyl group added to the amino methyl group, substantially decreasing its solubility in aqueous solutions. The physiological and toxicological properties of this compound are not known. This product is intended for research and forensic applications.
